Home-made Chocolate Ice Cream

We had some friends over for a BBQ tonight and we decided to try to make home-made ice cream.  I am totally not a fan of home-made ice cream.  It never tastes right and I don't like the film it leaves in my mouth.  And usually its really grainy.  When we went camping a few weeks ago, our friends made ice cream.  It was the yummiest home-made ice cream I have Ever eaten!  It tasted just like a Frosty from Wendy's!  It was that good!  So this is what we made.  I am posting Stephanie's recipe on here, (Thanks Steph!) just how she did it.

 3 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
1 Cup 2% Milk
1 Cup sugar
1 1/2 t. vanilla
Pinch of salt
1/2 Cup Chocolate Syrup

Combine and stir until sugar is dissolved.  Freeze according to your makers instructions.

It's that easy!

This recipe makes enough for 6-8 servings.  We doubled it and had enough for 14 and I still have some in the freezer that is hidden in the back were only I know where it is. :0)

What an easy and fun thing to do for the summer.  We can't wait to try all the different recipes we found in book.  Our maker is my husbands Grandpa's and we were able to find out that it was made in 1976, was used twice and is in perfect condition.   What I find!

Potato Fries

I made what my kids called, "Potato Fries" the other night.  Oh...My...Gosh...!!!  They were so good!  I couldn't have done better.  I sort of made up my own little mixture of spices and just tossed them with olive oil and the spice mix.  Next time I'll use less oil but other than that they were perfect!  Bake at 400* for about 20 minutes.  Toss and bake another 10.  Awesome!  I did the chicken fingers too and just covered them with Italian dressing.  They could have been a little better but hey, it works for 4 kids and no Dad home for the night. :0)

Going Camping

I can not wait for my week!  We are going camping and I have worked on getting all the duffel bags done to go.  I made my 3 oldest kids duffel bags just for camping.  I told a good friend what I was doing and she liked the idea so much she went to DI and bought some for her kids for $2.  I told her not to tell my husband how much.  We spent close to $20 for each duffel I made but it is just what I wanted for them and they are much bigger than I expected, which is good.

These are huge!  the pictures just don't do them justice to see the size of them.  I wanted to have them all packed so you could see the size and you still can't tell how humungous they are.  They are perfect.  :0)

I'll be making the baby one next year.  For now the little free one works just fine.
