Birthday dress

A lady in my ward did a class on this dress that she had copied from a Mary Jane dress. I loved it so much and I have made quite a few since then. This is for my daughter's 1st birthday. I am making her sister a matching one for her birthday which is 3 weeks after. It will be much better when I get my new sewing machine and I can do my own button holes for the straps instead of having to have my mom do them. :0)

In a slump

I really should be doing so many other things other than sitting here at the computer feeling sorry for myself and being pouty. I am truly happy and my life is in it's prime. I have 4 beautiful children, I have the best husband in the world. I don't say that lightly, he really is the best, everyone else is just having to be happy with second best. I really shouldn't be sad today but I am and I just need to write about it. I'm hoping that by writing out all my wonderful blessings in my life it will help me feel better. But I'm thinking I may have to just admit defeat and realize that I may just need a crying feast.

I am working on a few new projects that I hope to post in the next few days. Just getting out my sewing machine makes me a little happier. I will be much happier when I get my new machine next week though. ;0)

New dress

So a few weeks ago I went to get my oldest daughter ready for church and her Christmas/Winter dress was in the wash. It was then that I realized that I would get to make another dress for her! I was so excited to go fabric shopping and looking through my spring patterns. Later that day I was at my sister-in-laws house and saw her girls in dresses that I had made them last spring and remembered that I had one cut out for my daughter that I had never sewn together! Ready-to-sew dress! So here is it.

I just love this pattern! I bought it last year and loved how it turned out for my nieces and will be making another one for the summer I think. Here are the other ones I made last year.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday! I know that I enjoyed myself, spending the night with my kids and spoiling them. :0)

I wanted to show you what my boys made for their Valentine boxes. I was so excited because this is the first year that we got to make them at home. I found this and loved it but was informed by my 9 year old, "Mom, I'm just not IN to monsters." Man they grow up fast. So I kept looking and found this card and asked them about making a robot. Robot won. This is what we came up with.

Just a little tin foil and some paper hearts and we have robots.

I also made these cute little boxes for their teachers and filled them with candy. I just love this stamp set. I really want to get back into paper crafting. I miss it.

Large Backpack

So here is the backpack that I've been working on for a week. It was a new pattern from HomeSpunThreads and I was really excited to make it.Please don't mind my children's homework in the background. :0)

There were just two things that I would have liked to be different about the pattern. It wasn't written out well. I ended up looking at the pattern for the small backpack pattern that was there to get most of the instructions. The pocket wasn't on there either. It had it to put in but not what to cut out. I like it though so I'm glad I put it in. I just did it a tall as a pencil.
And the next major thing, don't put adjustable straps in the pattern if you can't buy them anywhere! Seriously! I looked everywhere for these things and couldn't find them. I ended up using belt buckles. No joke.
I do love how it turned out though and I am so making my self one for my second honey-moon in July. My husband and I are going away and not going to rent a car. We just plan on walking the city and we don't want to be carrying around a lot of luggage. This will be perfect for what I need to the weekend. It's much bigger than I was lead to believe and I love it. I will even use the belt buckles for the straps. :0)

Mini Wallet FAIL

Okay, so maybe I'll just call it a almost FAIL.  It turned out and it looks like it is suppose to but I wanted the fabric's different.  I am making a backpack for my cousin and there is some left over fabric that I wanted to do something extra for her with.  I saw this and thought it was perfect.  I intended to have the black and white and pink for the outside.  As you can see, that's not what happened.  I'm thinking I'm going to make another one and get it right this time.  I want to try that Ruffled Checkbook cover too so we'll see what I have left after that if I can redo this.  Try, try again. :0)

Instead of Chores

So as you can tell by my titling, I hate doing chores.  I would much rather be blog stalking, or crafting, or reading a good book.  So this will be all about what I'm doing INSTEAD of doing the things around my house that need to be done.  This is so much more fun! :0)  Just to start some things off I'll post on here what I'm working on today instead of the pile of laundry on my bed preventing me from going to bed tonight or the dirty dishes that are overflowing in my sink and starting to smell, the Mini Wallet and the Ruffle Checkbook.
